One wishes that Novak would put extra time to practice clay-court winning skills to truly challenge Rapha at Roland Garros (like I read Ivan Lendl did with Wimbledon--even though he failed but at least honestly tried). Huge fan of Wavrinka, Federer, Tsitsipas, Djokovic, Edberg, Lendl, Sampras, Agassi & Ivanisevic. Still don't understand the hating on Novak. He's really charismatic, can be really funny & is a great ambassador for tennis. Is the hating because fans of Nadal & Fed don't want Novak to pass their GS records, because he's younger, from eastern Europe or anti-vax? Nadal is also a great champ & outstanding player but he time wastes, takes injury timeouts & bathroom breaks to upset his opponents' rhythm, he grunts, scratches his balls & arse before serving & has far more annoying habits than Novak. He also hacks, moonballs, has a full western grip & I see no elegance in his technique or style of play.

Roger performed worse in the 2010s than in the 2000s not because of Novak but because of: - breaking the GS record, hence not being so hungry anymore (meanwhile Rafa and Joker were always chasing his record) - the slower surfaces (it's not a secret that the surfaces, especially hard, were slowed down a lot in comparison to the 2000s ones) - being much older than his two competitors. "Crowd factor" - another metric that should be taken into account in the GOAT debate. Home advantage is a generally accepted concept in any sport rivalry. It should also be considered in the GOAT rivalry. Diminishing the role of the crowd (independent how Novak deal with it) is another attempt to downgrade Novak's achivements. Fedal has always had home advantage when playing vs Novak (particulalry in AO US open and Wimbledon). Hence, what Novak achieved always playing "away" is yet another reason to call him GOAT.

Unless a new guy comes, I don't see Djokovic not getting the most grandslams. Especially if he keeps this level for 2 more years. He could easily win 4 more grandslams by the end of 2022. Nadal may eventually become beatable at the French in 2 years or so. So could be a tight race but Novak is in the driving seat considering he has more opportunities to win, 1 year younger than Nadal with less wear and tear on the body. I highly doubt Nadal will be able to win in his late 30s. Djok may be able to. Regarding Fed, he is a legend but records are made to be broken. He won't win another major. If he does, it will be 1 and Wimbledon ofc.

As a huge Roger fan, I have to say this guy is probably the best of all time if the criteria is mental toughness and head to head records. Roger is more enjoyable to watch and more liked than Novak. It’s a real shame he is disliked by so many. Maybe something he can work on. If he plays at this level for another five years, 25+ GS is not out of the question.

Man Novak should’ve faked another injury after leading 2 sets to 0 just to throw daniil off and win in the fifth. Novak is literally the most clutch athlete in the world for making a bold statement about not handing over anything to the nextgen BEFORE the final. And he really backed it up in the end. Others would only dare make such strong statement AFTER winning the title but not Novak lol.
